CMSC B399 Senior Conference - Spring 2024
Final Report
Overview
Your Final Report for this class represents the culmination of your undergraduate Computer Science education and presents a thorough investigation of the design, implementation, and
evaluation of a computing-based solution to a real-world problem.
This document describes the structure, format, etc. that you must follow before your Final Report will be considered finished, so please be sure to follow it closely!
Structure and Format
Your Final Report must adhere to the following formatting guidelines:
- The document must be a PDF; Microsoft Word and Google Docs will not be accepted
- The document must be single-spaced using a 12-point serif font like Times New Roman or Cambria
- Each page should have 1” margins on all sides
- The page number should appear at the bottom of each page
The structure of the document must be as follows:
Page 1: This is the title page and it must contain the following in this order; each item must be
centered horizontally on the page:
-
At the top of the page, you must have the words “Senior Project”, with the title of the project in bold text on the line beneath it
-
In the middle of the page, you must have your name(s), with the word “Advisor:” followed by your advisor’s name on the line beneath it
-
At the bottom of the page, you must have the text “Submitted in Partial Fulfillment of the Requirements of the BA in Computer Science”, then “Bryn Mawr College” on the next line, then “Spring 2021” on the line beneath that
- You may also include the Bryn Mawr College seal at the bottom of the page (beneath
“Spring 2021”) if you’d like
Page 2: This page must be blank, though it may have the page number at the bottom.
Page 3: This page contains the Abstract. It must have the word “Abstract” in bold, centered horizontally at the top, followed by a one-paragraph summary of your problem statement,
solution, implementation, and major findings from your evaluation.
Page 4: This page contains the Acknowledgments. It must have the word “Acknowledgments” in bold, centered horizontally at the top, followed by a paragraph for each team member in which they thank and acknowledge the people who supported them on their journey to completing their degree.
Page 5: This page is the Table of Contents. It must contain the word “Contents” in bold, centered horizontally at the top, followed by the table of contents, which must indicate the section numbers, section names, and starting pages. It is strongly, strongly, strongly recommended that you do not create this manually, but use a tool in your text editor to generate this automatically.
Page 6: This page must be blank, though it may have the page number at the bottom.
Page 7: This is the start of your actual report! For the rest of the document, you should use the same sections that you used in your First and Second Drafts.
Submission
Submit the Final Report to dkumar@brynmawr.edu (in PDF) by the specified due date. In case of group projects, one member of your team should submit the Final Report.
If you know that you will not be able to submit on time, you must notify the instructor in advance.
