Projects
Institute for Personal Robots in Education: Bryn Mawr College has teamed up with Georgia Tech and Microsoft to bring personal robots to education. Together, we will create the hardware, software, and curriculum for CS1 and CS2 courses. The project will build on Pyro (see below).
Developmental Robotics: Our goal is to explore the possibility of a robot that can begin to learn, starting with nothing but a seed program, everything that it needs to exhibit intelligent behavior.
Pyro Robotics: The goal of the project is to provide a programming environment for easily exploring advanced topics in artificial intelligence and robotics without having to worry about the low-level details of the underlying hardware. That is not to say that Pyro is just a toy. In fact, Pyro is used for real robotics research as well as courseware. Pyro wins 2005 NEEDS award!
Bubble is our first forray into fully-autonomous robotic blimps. It is controlled via Pyro. Bubble won second prize in the second annual Indoor Aerial Robot Competition in 2006.
The Role of Social Interaction in Developmental Robotics: students Julia Ferraioli, Leslie McTavish and George Dahl under the supervision of Professor Doug Blank. Summer 2006.
